D.A.T.A: Derby’s taxi trade calls for better engagement with the Council

The Derby Area Taxi Association (D.A.T.A) aims to give a voice to Derby licensed private hire drivers. (Taxi drivers) We hope to represent the trade, champion drivers’ interests and ensure that those working daily on the city’s roads are heard where it matters most.
Right now, our members are concerned about the lack of structured trade meetings and meaningful engagement between Derby City Council’s licensing committee and the licensed trade.
Without regular forums for open discussion, the practical knowledge and lived experience of Derby drivers are being overlooked in decisions that directly affect their livelihoods.
D.A.T.A believes this must change.
For Derby to move forward with a professional, modern and forward thinking attitude to available transport, there must be a consistent and constructive relationship between drivers, council officers and the licensing committee. Trade meetings should not be an occasional formality, they should be a regular, inclusive platform where all parties can collaborate, share insight and shape a better future for the industry.
As one of the voices of Derby’s taxi and private hire community, D.A.T.A is committed to restoring dialogue and building positive relationships. Strong communication, trust and partnership between the trade and the council will deliver benefits for everyone:
Drivers will feel represented, respected, and supported.
The Council gains real-world insight into the industry it regulates.
D.A.T.A is ready to lead these conversations and ensure the views of Derby’s drivers are integral in shaping the future of our trade.
